Anyone else unable to RICA their sim card?

I purchased a prepaid sim card earlier in the week, but after a few days of trying, I still haven't been able to get it RICA'd (and I tried at a few MTN stores, CNAs, and PEPs).

Are there any known issues at the moment?

I signed a R99/month contract with MTN giving them access to my Firstcard for deducting the monthly payment. The contract states that an initial payment of R106 is deducted. On the 31st Aug. an amount of R465.21 was taken out of my card by MTN Sp. I asked Firstcard to reverse the payment and sent them a copy of the agreement showing the contract terms but they refused to do it saying I must sort it out with MTN. I went to the MTN store where I signed the agreement and the girl was shocked at the amount deducted. She phoned MTN about it but I am still waiting to hear from them.

Despite phoning 808 till my phone buttons wore out we are no closer to finding out how to do it. There are 457 posts on Google with instructions which all gave us invalid selection message ?

HSDPA Data Connection Issue - Any ideas?

Hi,

When using MTN data on my Android phone, it has the little E/3G/H/H+/... in the top right corner, right?

Whenever my phone switches to H, I don't get any data flow... E/3G/H+ works like a charm, just not H (no matter how many bars it has attached).

I used to think I dropped my Galaxy S3 one too many times, but I have a new phone now, and same thing.

Does anybody have advise or a workaround for this?
HSDPA seems to be the most common connection type... and watching my phone trying to switch connection types every second isn't fun when I want to browse, or whatsapp or whatever.

Tried to google for solutions, but maybe my dyslectia is getting in the way.

Thanks in advance!

MTN - Failure to Secure Details, Unauthorized Debit Order, R8000 ID Fraud

MTN are note capable to secure the personal details of clients or take ownership of illegal activities of the staff and dealers.

My personal details was retrieved from their network and two Identity Fraud contract was taken out on my name and debited against my bank account. What is terrible is that fact that MTN makes it difficult for consumers to get their money refunded as they send you in circles to frustrate you. For four months they send me on a goose chase after I did what they wanted and submitted all the documents they wanted. They cannot even produce an authorized debit order but wanted me to proof the contracts don't belong to me.
I I am getting the run around since June. I received and email that it will take another three days after being told this on the 17/8/2016.
Guys if you really know what is good for you do not use MTN South Africa. Their staff will constantly send you in circles as not deliver on their promises. Since June they sending me in circle to refund my money. Either nobody informed them or the previous department did not send all the required documentation or they lost the documentation. Every-time the waiting period is again another 5-7 days. today is again 7-14 days. Their service SUCKS!!!! DO NOT USE THEM.

MTN names preferred vendor for its outsourced call centre facilities

Rightsource, a subsidiary of Adcorp, has been named as the preferred partner to manage MTN SA’s outsourced call centres. This follows an announcement MTN SA made last month that it will be adopting a hybrid call centre model which entails retaining some of its call centre facilities in-house, while it outsources some of them to an experienced third party vendor.

This is in line with MTN’s strategy of streamlining its operations and improving its ability to offer its customers a better service.

Adcorp is a global, industry-leading workforce management company which has operations across three continents in Africa, Asia and Australia.

Says Mteto Nyati, MTN South Africa Chief Executive Officer: “We are pleased that we have finally concluded an agreement with Rightsource. This will give impetus to MTN SA’s ability to achieve its strategic objectives. The adoption of the hybrid call centre model allows us to leverage on the competencies of an experienced partner while ensuring that we free up our resources to focus on our core competencies and create a more efficient yet flexible organisation. This marks a new and exciting chapter for MTN SA, which will be underpinned by a stronger focus on improved customer service.”

Richard Pike, Group CEO of Adcorp added: “Adcorp is pleased to partner with MTN in this initiative, which is indicative of our client-centric approach. We are cognisant of MTN’s strategic objectives and what the company seeks to achieve by adopting the hybrid call centre model. The wealth of experience we have in running such facilities, coupled with our depth of BPO, will enable us to help MTN to deliver on its mandate and strategic objectives.”

The hybrid call centre model is going live on 01, October 2016.

Nyati concluded: “We have been encouraged by employee participation throughout this process. We are confident that this commercial undertaking will enable MTN to focus on strengthening its core competencies and channel its resources into improving customer centricity.”

FREE 50GB plus 10 000 MTN-MTN Minutes

Hi Guys,

I've been due for an upgrade for some time now, and over the weekend I received the following SMS from MTN:

"FREE 50GB plus 10 000 MTN-MTN Minutes FREE every month for 24 months! Upgrade your phone for 24 months with a minumum R289 subscription p/m to qualify. TsCs"

So I go into the Gatemax MTN store to do my upgrade, where the staff had heard of this promotion, but weren't sure of any of the details, or who qualifies, they could only assume that because I got the SMS I would qualify. So my upgrade was processed, but I don't see any sign of these promotional extras...

Does anyone know anything about this?

Cheers,
Wayne.

Sim from Contract to Prepaid: Migration Complete?

$

After my wife's MTN contract expired, we called them to move it over to prepaid yesterday. They said the process takes 2 to 48 hours to complete, so very vague. Hence, my wife kept checking her balance over and over every few hours to see when the airtime balance goes to 0. Now there is a new value of R10.00 airtime (non-expiring, apparently), but the free minutes and data as the contract had, still remains.

So, does this new R10.00 airtime reflect that the migration is complete? If not, what is the reason that this airtime was added after the request?

EDIT: Wrong section. @MickeyD or some mod, please move this section if possible. :) http://mybroadband.co.za/vb/forumdis...nt-MMS-and-SMS

Thanks.

Finding out what package I'm on.

Good morning

I hope someone can help.

I have a cellphone that I got from a family member, it is a contract phone and although it's not in my name I pay the account. I feel like I am paying quite a lot of money for what I am getting and would like to know what the cellphone package details are (even if I only know the contract NAME so I can see if I'm paying for other devices I'm not aware of). I don't have the cell SIM car anymore because it only gives me R100 airtime and I didn't want to lose my cell number. It's a Samsung Core 2

I'd appreciate any help with regards to getting the info (legally of course) without needing the family member (who I have no contact with) to find out what package the number is on. USSD codes would only work with the SIM and I can't do a SIM swap because it's not in my name.

Thanks

Gordon

MTN issues - cancelling contract

$

Been having a few issues with MTN lately where my 3G/HSDPA connection isn't very usable. Certain things will work like whatsapp and other messengers but Facebook and Google won't. I'm assuming there's something wrong with my sim card and trying to get hold of MTN is ridiculous.

What I want to do is go with Afrihost mobile.

First question: Can I get an Afrihost sim elsewhere besides getting it delivered from Afrihost? The MTN stores don't sell them I'm assuming?

Second question: If not, can I grab a new MTN prepaid sim, cancel and downgrade my contract to pay as you go keeping my number. Then do a number port with Afrihost using my old number to the new MTN(Afrihost) sim card?

Will this work even though I am already on the MTN network with my current number?

Thanks
