I had this "No Service" thing start this afternoon, seems its related to their LTE network, I tried GSM only/rebooting etc but to no avail. Weird thing is the issue only happens with the sim inserted in a smartphone, I put my sim in an old Nokia and it worked fine.
From all reports the issue was quite widespread and countrywide, my problem sim was prepaid and provisoned on the Afrihost network to use their data Apn.
Anyway after much fretting and fiddling and battery pulling I decided to get a sim swop, lady at the local MTN shop said she had had 3 people in that afternoon with the same issue and didn't advise a sim swop. I couldn't see any other reason for the problem so I went ahead with a sim swop and once the new sim was active the problem was solved - been fine every since.
Wonder what the issue was, a whole bad batch of sims that had some time/date based issue or similar?
